Plain-English Summary: Gear AI gives you AI-powered tools to help maintain your bike. You own your data. Our AI is a helpful guide — not a licensed mechanic — so use your judgment on safety-critical repairs. Subscriptions auto-renew; cancel anytime through your iPhone Settings. Don't misuse the app or try to break it. If something goes wrong, our liability is capped at what you paid us in the last 12 months.
These Terms of Service ("Terms") constitute a legally binding agreement between you ("you" or "User") and Gear AI ("Gear AI," "we," "us," or "our") governing your access to and use of the Gear AI mobile application (the "App"), website, and all related services (collectively, the "Service").
By downloading, installing, or using the App, creating an account, or making a purchase, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated by reference.
If you do not agree to these Terms, do not download, install, or use the App. If you are accepting these Terms on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization.
Gear AI is an iOS mobile application that provides cyclists with AI-powered tools for bike maintenance, including:
The Service is available for iOS devices and is distributed exclusively through Apple's App Store. The App requires an active internet connection for AI-powered features (diagnosis, chat, voice).
You must be at least 13 years old to use Gear AI. If you are between 13 and 18 years old, you represent that your parent or legal guardian has reviewed and agreed to these Terms on your behalf.
To use most features of the App, you must create an account using a valid email address and password. You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration and to keep your account information updated.
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. You agree to:
We are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your failure to protect your account credentials.
Each person may maintain only one Gear AI account. Creating multiple accounts to circumvent subscription requirements, free trial limitations, or account restrictions is a violation of these Terms and may result in termination of all associated accounts.
Access to premium Gear AI features requires a paid subscription. The following plans are currently offered:

Both plans include the same full feature set: unlimited bikes, unlimited AI diagnoses, AI chat assistant, voice assistant, Strava integration, step-by-step repair guides, smart maintenance tracking, bike health monitoring, cloud sync, and access to all future updates.
Prices are displayed in USD and may vary by country. Prices are subject to change (see Section 4.6).
Subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing period unless cancelled. Renewal charges are made to your Apple ID payment method within 24 hours before the end of the current period. By subscribing, you authorize Apple to charge your payment method for renewal automatically.
You may cancel your subscription at any time. To cancel:
Cancellation must be made at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period to avoid being charged for the next period. After cancellation, you retain access to premium features through the end of the paid period. Gear AI does not provide refunds for unused portions of a subscription period. For refund requests, contact Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.
All payments are processed by Apple through the App Store's in-app purchase system. We do not collect, store, or process your credit card or payment information. Your payment method is subject to Apple's terms and policies.
We use Superwall to manage paywall presentation and subscription analytics. Superwall processes limited device and subscription event data on our behalf. Superwall does not have access to your personal account information, bike data, or AI conversation history.
We reserve the right to change subscription prices at any time. Apple will notify you of any price changes before they take effect. Your continued subscription after a price change takes effect constitutes your acceptance of the new price. If you do not agree to a price change, you must cancel your subscription before the price change takes effect.
If a renewal payment fails, Apple will attempt to process it again. If the payment remains unsuccessful, your subscription will lapse and you will lose access to premium features until a successful payment is made and your subscription is reinstated.
A 3-day free trial is available for the Yearly subscription plan only. Free trials are offered to new Gear AI subscribers who have not previously held a Gear AI subscription. Trial availability is determined by Apple and may be limited or unavailable in certain regions or circumstances.
During the free trial, you will have full access to all Gear AI premium features at no charge. If you do not cancel before the 3-day trial period ends, you will automatically be charged $64.99 for the first year of your Yearly subscription. Your Apple ID payment method will be charged at the end of the trial.
To avoid being charged, cancel your subscription at least 24 hours before the trial period ends using the instructions in Section 4.3. Cancelling during the trial will not result in any charge, and you will retain access to premium features through the end of the trial period.
Free trials are intended for new subscribers only. Creating multiple accounts or using multiple Apple IDs to obtain additional free trials is a violation of these Terms.

The AI-powered features in Gear AI — including AI Diagnosis, Guided Repairs, AI Chat, and Voice Mode — are powered by large language models and computer vision technology (OpenAI). These features are designed to provide helpful guidance to cyclists performing their own bike maintenance. They are:
AI-generated diagnoses and repair instructions may be inaccurate, incomplete, or unsuitable for your specific bike, component version, or situation. Factors that may affect accuracy include, but are not limited to:
Some bike components are safety-critical. Improper maintenance or repair of brakes, wheels, forks, steering systems, suspension, and other structural components can result in serious injury or death. Before performing any repair on a safety-critical component:

You may not use the AI Chat or Voice Mode features to request content that is unrelated to bicycle maintenance and repair, or to attempt to circumvent the safety guidelines of the underlying AI models. Abuse of AI features may result in account suspension.
You agree to use Gear AI only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms. You agree NOT to:

We reserve the right to investigate violations of these Terms and, in our sole discretion, suspend or terminate your account, remove content, and/or report violations to law enforcement. We may cooperate with law enforcement in investigating fraud, intellectual property infringement, or other illegal activity.
"User Content" means any information, data, photos, text, or other content that you submit, upload, or transmit through the App, including bike photos, maintenance records, and chat messages.
You retain all ownership rights to your User Content. Gear AI does not claim ownership of your photos, bike data, or any other content you create or upload.
By submitting User Content, you grant Gear AI a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license to:
This license does not grant Gear AI the right to sell your User Content, use your photos for AI model training, or share your User Content with third parties except as described in our Privacy Policy.
You represent and warrant that: (a) you own or have the rights to submit all User Content; (b) your User Content does not infringe the intellectual property rights, privacy rights, or any other rights of any third party; and (c) your User Content does not violate any applicable law.
We reserve the right to remove any User Content that violates these Terms or that we determine, in our sole discretion, is harmful, illegal, or otherwise objectionable. You may delete your own User Content at any time within the App.
The App, including its design, code, graphics, text, audio, video, features, and all other content (excluding User Content), is owned by or licensed to Gear AI and is protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. The Gear AI name and logo are trademarks of Gear AI.
Subject to these Terms and payment of applicable subscription fees, Gear AI grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to download and use the App on iOS devices that you own or control, solely for your personal, non-commercial use.
Except as expressly permitted by these Terms, you may not: copy, modify, or create derivative works of the App; reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App; distribute, sell, license, or otherwise transfer the App; remove any proprietary notices or labels on the App; or use the App in a manner not expressly authorized by these Terms.
If you provide suggestions, ideas, or feedback about Gear AI ("Feedback"), you grant us the right to use and incorporate such Feedback without obligation, compensation, or restriction.
The Service integrates with and depends upon several third-party services. By using Gear AI, you acknowledge and agree to the following:
AI Diagnosis, AI Chat, Guided Repair generation, and Voice Mode are powered by OpenAI's API. Your use of these features is subject to OpenAI's Usage Policies. OpenAI may retain and use data submitted through their API in accordance with their terms. We encourage you to review OpenAI's privacy policy before using AI-powered features.
Subscription management and paywall presentation are handled by Superwall. Your use of the App constitutes acceptance of Superwall's Terms of Service.
Your account and bike data are stored in Supabase's database infrastructure. Supabase's Terms of Service apply to data stored through their platform.
Strava integration is optional and requires your explicit authorization. By connecting Strava, you agree to Strava's Terms of Service. Gear AI's use of Strava data is governed by the Strava API Agreement.
References to third-party services do not constitute endorsement of those services. We are not responsible for the practices, policies, or content of third-party services. You access third-party services at your own risk.
The App may contain links to third-party websites or services. These links are provided for convenience only. We do not control and are not responsible for the content, privacy practices, or accuracy of third-party websites.
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

IN NO EVENT WILL GEAR AI, ITS OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AGENTS, SUPPLIERS, OR LICENSORS BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, PUNITIVE, OR EXEMPLARY DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO: LOSS OF PROFITS, LOSS OF DATA, LOSS OF GOODWILL, SERVICE INTERRUPTION, COMPUTER OR DEVICE DAMAGE, PERSONAL INJURY, PROPERTY DAMAGE, OR ANY OTHER LOSS ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE OR RELIANCE ON AI-GENERATED GUIDANCE — EVEN IF GEAR AI HAS BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.
IN NO EVENT WILL GEAR AI'S TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ALL CLAIMS ARISING FROM OR RELATING TO THE SERVICE EXCEED THE GREATER OF: (A) THE TOTAL AMOUNT YOU PAID TO GEAR AI IN THE 12 MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM, OR (B) TWENTY-FIVE DOLLARS ($25.00 USD).
THE LIMITATIONS IN THIS SECTION REFLECT A REASONABLE ALLOCATION OF RISK AND ARE AN ESSENTIAL BASIS OF THE BARGAIN BETWEEN YOU AND GEAR AI. WITHOUT THESE LIMITATIONS, GEAR AI COULD NOT PROVIDE THE SERVICE AT THE CURRENT PRICE POINTS.
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain warranties or liabilities. In such jurisdictions, Gear AI's liability will be limited to the fullest extent permitted by applicable law.
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Gear AI and its officers, directors, employees, agents, suppliers, and licensors from and against any claims, damages, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from or related to:
Gear AI reserves the right to assume exclusive defense and control of any matter subject to indemnification by you, at your expense, and you agree to cooperate with our defense of such claims.
We reserve the right to modify, update, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time, with or without notice. We may add new features, remove existing features, or change pricing. We will provide reasonable advance notice of material changes where practicable.
We do not guarantee that the Service will be available at all times or without interruption. The Service may be unavailable due to maintenance, outages, or circumstances beyond our control (including OpenAI API availability or Supabase infrastructure). We are not liable for any unavailability of the Service.
AI-powered features (diagnosis, chat, voice) depend on OpenAI's API. Interruptions or limitations in OpenAI's service will affect these features. We are not responsible for third-party service outages. Offline features (stored bike data, maintenance history, previously saved repair guides) remain accessible without an internet connection.
If we decide to permanently discontinue the Service, we will provide at least 30 days' advance notice where possible. If the Service is discontinued during a paid subscription period, we will work to provide a prorated refund through Apple for the unused portion of the subscription period.
You may terminate your account at any time by deleting it through the App (Settings → Account → Delete Account) or by contacting us at hello@gear-ai.app. Deleting your account does not automatically cancel an active subscription — you must cancel your subscription separately through your iOS Settings.
We may suspend or terminate your account and access to the Service immediately, without prior notice, if we determine that you have violated these Terms, engaged in fraudulent activity, or if continued provision of the Service to you poses a legal or security risk to us or other users.
Upon termination of your account:
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United States, without regard to conflict of law principles. For users in the European Union, mandatory consumer protection laws of your country of residence may also apply.
Before filing a formal claim, you agree to contact us at hello@gear-ai.app and attempt to resolve the dispute informally. We will attempt to resolve the dispute within 30 days of receiving notice.
If informal resolution is unsuccessful, you and Gear AI agree that any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service will be resolved through binding individual arbitration, not in court, except for claims that qualify for small claims court. The arbitration will be conducted by a recognized arbitration provider under their applicable commercial arbitration rules. YOU AGREE THAT DISPUTES WILL BE RESOLVED INDIVIDUALLY AND NOT AS A CLASS ACTION.
Either party may seek injunctive or other equitable relief in a court of competent jurisdiction for matters involving intellectual property infringement or breach of confidentiality obligations.
Nothing in these Terms limits your statutory rights as a consumer under EU or UK consumer protection law, including your right to bring a claim before your national courts.

Your continued use of the App after the effective date of updated Terms constitutes your acceptance of the changes. If you do not agree to updated Terms, you should cancel your subscription and delete your account before the changes take effect.
For changes required by law or in response to an emergency, we may not be able to provide advance notice.
These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Gear AI with respect to the Service and supersede all prior agreements and understandings.
If any provision of these Terms is held to be invalid, illegal, or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.
Gear AI's failure to enforce any right or provision of these Terms will not be considered a waiver of that right or provision.
You may not assign or transfer these Terms or your rights under them without our prior written consent. We may assign these Terms without restriction.
Gear AI will not be liable for any delay or failure to perform resulting from causes outside its reasonable control, including acts of God, natural disasters, pandemic, war, terrorism, government actions, internet outages, or third-party service failures.
