4. Third-Party Services

We work with the following third-party service providers. Each operates under its own privacy policy and terms of service.

4.1 OpenAI

Services used: GPT-4 Vision (bike photo diagnosis), GPT-4o-mini (AI chat assistant and repair guide generation), Whisper (voice assistant transcription)

Data transmitted: Photos of your bike or bike components (as encoded image data), text messages you send to the AI chat assistant, and audio from Voice Mode sessions.

Important disclosure: When you use the AI Diagnosis, AI Chat, or Voice Mode features, your photos, text, and voice input are transmitted to OpenAI's servers located in the United States. OpenAI processes this data to generate responses. OpenAI's API terms do not use your API-submitted data to train OpenAI models by default. For details, see OpenAI's Privacy Policy.

Limitation: We do not store photos you submit for diagnosis on our servers after the diagnosis is complete. The photo is transmitted in real time and the diagnosis result is returned. If you save a diagnosis or the associated photo to your account, that saved data is stored in Supabase (see 4.2).

4.2 Supabase

Service used: Cloud database, authentication, and real-time data sync

Data stored: Your account credentials (email, hashed password), user profile data, bikes, maintenance history, diagnosis records, and app settings.

Location: Supabase stores data on AWS infrastructure. Storage region is subject to Supabase's configuration and may be located in the United States or other regions. For details, see Supabase's Privacy Policy.

4.3 Superwall

Service used: Subscription paywall management, free trial handling, and in-app purchase presentation

Data transmitted: Device identifiers, app version, iOS version, subscription status, paywall view events, purchase events, and trial eligibility data. Superwall does not receive your name, email, or bike data.

4.4 Apple / App Store

Service used: In-app purchase processing, subscription management, and payment processing

Data transmitted: All payment transactions are processed entirely by Apple through StoreKit. We never receive, store, or process your payment card details. Apple shares subscription status information (active, expired, trial) with us to verify your access. For details, see Apple's Privacy Policy.

4.5 Strava

Service used: Third-party fitness data integration (optional)

Data transmitted: If you connect your Strava account, we receive your Strava profile ID, bike list (name, model, mileage), and activity ride data (date, distance, bike used). We request only the minimum scopes necessary. You may disconnect Strava at any time in the App settings. For details, see Strava's Privacy Policy.

4.6 Expo / React Native

Gear AI is built with React Native and Expo. Expo may collect limited technical data for app crash reporting and update delivery. See Expo's Privacy Policy.

5. Subscriptions & Payments

Gear AI is a subscription-based app. Subscriptions are processed and managed entirely through Apple's App Store using StoreKit.

5.1 Subscription Plans

5.2 Auto-Renewal

Both subscription plans automatically renew at the end of each billing period unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your Apple ID account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours before the end of the current period.

5.3 Free Trial

The 3-day free trial is available for the Yearly plan only and is available to new subscribers only. If you do not cancel during the trial period, you will be charged $64.99 at the end of the trial. Free trials cannot be combined and are offered at Apple's discretion.

5.4 Cancellation

You may cancel your subscription at any time through your iPhone: Settings → [Your Name] → Subscriptions → Gear AI → Cancel Subscription. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. We do not issue refunds for partial subscription periods. For refund requests, contact Apple directly at reportaproblem.apple.com.

5.5 Payment Processing

All payment processing is handled by Apple. We do not collect, store, or process your payment card information. Gear AI receives only a confirmation of your subscription status from Apple.
